“Born Salesperson”—Fact or Fiction?

Original post from Mark Hunter:

Is There Such a Thing as a “Born” Salesperson?
We’ve all heard the expression that someone is a “born salesperson”.

It seems too many times, the person who uses that expression is the one who is trying to deflect away from them the reason they’re struggling to sell.

People who aren’t successful are quick to create excuses, and I think this is one of the best because it creates an excuse without putting someone down.

Problem is there is no such thing as a “born salesperson.”

Becoming an excellent salesperson requires being disciplined and focused. Disciplines in how you use your time and focused on being willing to learn.

There are plenty of excuses from sales reps about why they aren’t doing as well as their team members. And, I’m sure you’ve heard this one before…

But take a step back and think about why your best reps seem like “born salespeople.” They had to put the work in to get here. Figuring out what steps they took and the challenges they had to face could become great training for your other sales reps.
